Caregiver or Caretaker?

I am not sure when the terminology changed.

Caregiver means give care to someone else whenther a pet or a person.

Caretaker implies care is being taken from a donor to help a recipient.

Both, it seems means the same, in the end someone is left with less care for themselves.
